Not long after getting it, it stopped beeping to let me know it was done cooking and so did the timer. Repairman came out....went to settings and redid everything. Worked for a few days and quit again. I redid all the settings again. Sometimes the timer will beep., but not the end of cooking beep. I have to reset everything every time I use it. I have to stand there and watch it to know when it's done.....even if it's just to restart after stirring something! The exhaust filters are useless if you're doing something like a pot of soup or a pot of spaghetti!!! If you try, the whole thing shuts down and you have to wait until everything dries out to start again. When you push to start the microwave, the fan and/or lights go off for a short time.

Nice looking but some things I wish were better

Like our other Cafe appliance it looks great and functions well. It seems louder than our old one and the single bulb light over the stove is lame. There was plenty of room for two bulbs but for some reason they designed it with just one weak bulb. You think an expensive model like this one would not have skimped on this feature. Otherwise it™€™s a nice microwave.

My wife and I bought this new Cafe to replace one that we bought in 2020 that had numerous issues through-out 2025. We thought we would have better luck with a new one thinking GE would had learned from their old ones what consumers really wanted. Besides that, we have a cut-out back splash behind our stove that we wanted it to fit perfectly into the old one's spot. We were told by several salesmen the new Cafe should fit perfectly. Boy, were they ever wrong!!! This new 2026 Cafe is one inch shorter. That means I now have to hire a carpenter to cut a one inch piece of wood, attach it and paint it to conceal that gapping hole above the this microwave. GRR!!! We also thought we could use some of the old parts for back-up like the glass turn table, rollers underneath it and etc..Nope!!! All of their dimensions have been changed in the new Cafe by a mear thousand's of an inch. So nothing could be used from our old Cafe. Makes one think, "Not by accident". One of the first things my wife noted with the New 2026 Cafe is the panel is not back lit at all. It is completely dark except for the time. The panel is not "User Friendly"! One has to press hard to make any kind of entry. My wife immediately felt that instead of making "Cafe" better, GE has made it Cheaper and Increased the price.

Film on handle flakes off

The handle of this microwave has an apparent defect where the film covering the handle will wrinkle up and eventually start flaking off and fall down onto whatever is below (including food) if there is a range directly below where water is boiled (normal range use). For us it took around two years before it started. Under the reviews for the replacement handle part there are many more users that have experienced this issue, some in even less time. If you are outside of the warranty period, customer service will not send a free replacement part, even though this is a design problem. Otherwise, the microwave is very good in terms of appearance and functionality.

THE CONTROL PANEL IS NOT BACK LIT, AND IT MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO USE AT NIGHT. YOU HAVE TO TURN ON THE KITCHEN LIGHTS, AND WHEN YOU USE THE SURFACE LIGHT, IT IS NOT BRIGHT ENOUGH TO SEE THE CONTROL PANEL. VERY POOR DESIGN!

Great controls, look and capacity

Installation was a breeze. Template and directions easy to follow. Controls are simple, as not a fan for everything digital. Just enough standard buttons for what we use most. Design and look are outstanding. Stainless fits in with other appliances, and the round handle is a nice touch.

We had the microwave installed by professional installers from the appliance store where we bought it, and on first use, it made a loud buzzing sound wherever it was turned on. The sound stopped when you pressed on the bottom of the oven, so it was maybe a loose plate. I removed a panel to access the underneath but couldn™€™t pinpoint the source of the sound. However, when I reinstalled the plate, the buzzing no longer occurred. Hopefully that™€™ll hold, but it™€™s a little concerning.

The controls are terrible, You almost need a hammer to activate the buttons. Complaints have been made for years about this problem and nothing has been done to rectify it. I am disappointed . Microwaves for half the price have touch controls.

On the day of delivery and installation, and when using for the first time after the installer left, the unit makes an odd noise like a screw rattling around. We called to have a service tech come check it out the very same day. We were told we would be charged $86. Really?? Umm no that is not acceptable. So they are sending a new one instead. Hoping this is not an issue with the next one. What a waste.

The control panel is poorly engineered. There is no back light. Text is hard to read without direct light. The control button are not touch sensitive. You have to press hard and firm. Bad combination; hard to read controls and having to press firmly. I wish we had not purchased this microwave.

I had to replace my 14 year old / 2011 Cafà microwave and decided to go with this one. I just didn't find a knob on the outside of a microwave to be very appealing. I would have rather had the higher end features but the knob was a deal breaker. I defrost some things, soften and melt butter and cheeses and reheat coffee in a microwave. Very few things actually get cooked in here. That is what I have a Cafà gas stove for. And if I ain't cooking on the stove then I am probably outside smoking or grilling it or maybe using my sous vide circulator. But this is a decent microwave for the price. It was easy to install by myself. Overall, I am happy with my purchase.

Just had a GE Cafe Series Microwave installed for the THIRD time in less than two years. The first was installed in 9/22 at the time when we also purchased the range in the same Cafe line. That microwave lasted a few months, died, and then had to be replaced. The replacement lasted less than a year and, just yesterday, was replaced again. Though we love the Cafe Series range, can't say the same for the matching Microwave. Hoping this third one will be the last we'll need. We'd advise that it should be purchased with extreme caution, and we would have given ZERO stars if ZERO had been an option.

Does not have Chef Connect. I wish I would have gotten the next version up so that it would communicate with my stylish chef connect enabled cafà gas range. Our Initially Disappointing GE Cafà Experience

MICROWAVE - Cafe 1.9 Cu. Ft. Stainless Steel Over-the-Range Microwave Oven Pros - Sleek modern design. Easy to use and functions well. Heats and cooks very well. Cons - First unit was damaged in shipping, replacement required. Membrane Keypad requires excessive pressure to activate keys. 50 Watt halogen Range surface light is somewhat dim. Part of the problem may be associated with the diffusion lens cover. Reviews indicate other models have brighter white lighting. Recommend: Yes Day 1: I removed the old Kenmore and prepared the area above the range for the new Cafà unit. The installation came to an abrupt halt when I discovered the Cafà unit had been damaged in shipping. A bottom corner of the box was crushed from having been dropped or thrown. This resulted in the top back edge of the microwave being crushed because the units are shipped upside down. Day 2: Contacted the dealer who ordered a replacement. Day 14: Picked up replacement at dealer, installed it and is currently functioning as designed.

Where do I find the correct charcoal filter?

I have had no problems, easy to use, until my filter light came on. My grease filtters did not need cleaning, looked the same as when I purchased this microwave Dec. 2023. So I figured I need to change the charcoal filter. Specs say charcoal filter kit Jx81H/WBosX11544. Unfortuneately, not available on site, found this on Amazon, but they do not look the same as what came with microwave. They are metal mesh type. Looking at pictures on manual, it looks as if charcoal filters slide in. But mine did not have a filter that slides in, it has a felt type filter that sits in front. Was this to come with both metal type charcoal filter and a felt like mesh that sits in front? Very confusing. So please tell me where to get the charcoal filter?

Purchased this microwave and thought it was a good choice but the light over the stove isn™€™t bright enough and the fan doesn™€™t take the steam away from the front burners on the stove. The side panel is hard to read in the dark so I have to use a flashlight to see the panel.

My only real complaint about the microwave is the key pad. It feels cheap compared to other Cafe products. It™€™s not very sensitive and feels like eventually the ™€˜buttons™€™ will break down over time.
